History of Chai
Chai is more than just tea — it’s a centuries-old ritual rooted in Indian culture. Its origins trace back to ancient Ayurveda, where spiced infusions were used for healing and balance. Long before tea leaves arrived, blends of herbs and spices like tulsi, ginger, and cardamom were simmered for their therapeutic properties.
In the 19th century black tea from Assam was introduced and eventually woven into this tradition — giving rise to what we now know as masala chai. Over time, chai became a part of daily life across India — poured into clay cups at train stations, passed around in family homes, offered as a gesture of hospitality and care.
No two cups are ever quite the same — every region, every household, every hand that makes it adds something different. And that’s the beauty of it. Chai isn’t just a drink. It’s a ritual, a story, and a feeling — one we’re proud to continue and reimagine.
