Chai 101: Master the art

5/8/20241 min read

  • Step 1: Boil water in an electric kettle (makes it quicker) and pour the amount needed in a saucepan. Add the chai mix and a sweetener as per taste (sugar, jaggery, honey etc.). Bring this to a boil.

TIP: If you have a mortar and pestle, grinding the chai mix before boiling it can bring out more flavours and oils!

  • Step 2: Once the mixture has come to a boil, add milk to the saucepan (amount and type of milk as per your liking!). Let the mixture come to a simmer and leave it at a simmer for about 3-5 mins.

TIP: Normally, about 1tbsp of chai blend should make a cup of chai. Each person should have their own proportions - but, as a starting point for every 1tbsp of chai blend use 175ml of water and 100ml of milk.

  • Step 3: Once the chai is brewed and sweetened to your liking, use a sieve to pour in a cup/kettle and enjoy!

TIP: If you make extra, store some in the fridge and you can have it as iced chai later!
